To the Ends of the Earth
Yesterday, I had the privilege of meeting with 2 pastors from the Western part of NC in a strategizing effort to reach an Unreached (less than 2% evangelical) Unengaged (there is no one trying to reach them) People Group, UUPG. As I reflect on our meeting, I want to share a couple of thoughts:
1) Every church can make a difference. Two out of the three churches that were represented yesterday average less than 75 on Sunday mornings. You don't have to be a mega church to make a difference for King Jesus; you simply have to be willing to do whatever it takes to reach people with the Gospel. I am super proud of BBC for adopting this particular people group and adopting a church plant in Toronto at the same time (not to mention our continued efforts in Haiti!!!). We are not overflowing with numbers, but God is using us (IMO) in a mighty way, and He can do the same in other churches of similar size.
2) We can do more together than we separately. Something that I appreciated so much about our time together was that there was not a hint of pride in any of us. I never heard any type of talk about my church can do this, my church needs to do this, etc. Our focus was simply on working together to get the gospel to this group of people and the best way to do it. We recognized that we each needed each other in order for the task to be successful. I'm convinced that more kingdom work would take place if pastors were willing to work together and not worry about who gets credit for the work.
I'm sure the Lord will lay more on my heart in the days ahead, but for now, I'm excited about what the future holds!!!
